School stories

With a visit to Dadov Theatre on 21 April, when Savremena’s students saw the play “Violence”, Savremena International School continued a series of activities regarding the fight against violence, with the aim of educating students about this important topic.

Savremena’s students stunned at the reality that life brings

The play by Kokan Mladenović depicts the story of Aleksa Janković and other boys and girls who ended their lives tragically after having faced peer violence for months.

Degraded values, violence, sadness, pain, suffering and, ultimately, the fulfilment of a never-ending dream best describe “Violence”, a play that left Savremena’s students speechless. A mere hour was enough to raise many questions, which our students continued discussing even after the curtains closed.

“What would I do?”, “How would I be able to help someone who is in a similar situation?”, “What prevents institutions and the law from reacting immediately and stopping violence?”, were some of the questions the students asked each other as they were leaving the theatre.

Savremena’s students had but one wish upon seeing the play – that violence would end and that everyone would joined forces in this fight so that these tragic stories never happen again.

Education – the best prevention in the fight against violence

Along with the regular education that Savremena’s students gain at school, it is very important that they raise their awareness about nice manners, culture and good relations among people.

The play, which was eye-opening to many, served as an important life lesson to Savremena’s students, one that they learnt perfectly.
