School stories

Arts classes in Savremena are not meant only for the talented students. Each class is designed in a way that all students can take a peek into the world of arts and feel its beauty and significance. As true high school students, our students learn the history of arts in an original and interesting way, through discovery and creation.

That way, for example, our students learnt about the beginning of our civilisation’s art and the most significant prehistoric works of art using modern technology, as well as some of the oldest art techniques.

Completely different creativity

Instructed by their teacher story, the students imagined with their eyes closed that they wandered through the woods of south-western France, found one of the most significant caves which holds one of the most beautiful examples of cave paintings. When they opened their eyes, before them there was a virtual presentation of Lascaux cave, which is today closed to public in order to protect these masterpieces. Students could virtually visit the entire cave and go over the animal paintings on its walls, just like they were inside it.

They had a feeling that they were standing before the works of the entire humanity’s ancestors that are about several tens of thousands of years old. They learnt where lies the significance of these original forms of art, and came to their own conclusions on how cavemen produced colours, drawings and paintings.

Students as authors

Later on, they had an opportunity to try out making clay sculptures, totems, and talismans, inspired by prehistoric art. Throughout their creative process they discovered their potentials, increased their imagination, connected knowledge from different areas, with evident results. Their literary works serve as examples of creative thinking, emotions, and manifestation of their personalities.

All this was complemented by visiting archeological site in Vinca, where students directly encountered one of the oldest cultures in this area. Through different activities they could identify themselves with the lifestyle of people in Vinca and their culture.

Acquiring knowledge through practice

Students of Savremena learn about the past in order to acquire better understanding of the present and devise visions for the future.

Art is just one of the subjects through which our students develop critical thinking, spread nobleness, and acquire true values. And knowledge, as the greatest value in Savremena, exceeds the limits of books and classrooms, and translates into real life.
