On Thursday and Wednesday, 9 and 10 May, Savremena’s students visited the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade. During the guided tour, the students saw numerous inventions, static and interactive showpieces, which introduced them, in a fun way, to phenomena from the fields of astronomy, physics, mathematics, biology, psychology and logic.

Cultural institution especially appealing to the youth

The Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade is a cultural institution of national importance, where scientific and technological goods contributing to the popularisation of science and the preservation of scientific achievements are researched, kept and presented.

At 51 Skenderbegova Street, you can see exceptionally valuable collections which show the technological development and its significance for people’s lives, and the showpieces are organised into 4 departments: wheel-machine-engine, communication, man and his technical environment, and measurement and calculation.

Unforgettable journey through time

The permanent exhibitions at the museum amazed Savremena’s students, as they brought them back to the distant past and revived the life in Serbia of that time. Early computers, clocks, cameras, various instruments and objects which marked the first half of the 20th century allowed them to have an unforgettable experience. The students were fascinated by interesting stories and details about the ways printing was done without printers, and what the first computers and TV sets made in Serbia looked like.

Being accustomed to learn through discoveries and experiments, Savremena’s students got to know scientific phenomena immediately through interactive showpieces. Thanks to ICT teacher Filip Lončar, and physics teacher Kata Vuletić, the students were active participants in discussions about experiencing optical illusions, centrifugal force, testing balance and other things that impressed them the most.

Interesting project combining ICT and physics

After the visit to the Museum of Science and Technology, Savremena’s students added the posts which marked these two days on the blogs they had made on their ICT lesson.

The students had the task to present a showpiece they liked the most, explain which law of physics was applied in its construction and present it in detail on their online nook. According to the students, they find tasks like these inspiring and fun, which is why they are impatient to find out about the next thing Savremena has prepared for them.
