Savremena’s students had a unique opportunity to be the guests of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, OSCE.
During the visit, the students expanded their knowledge about environmental protection, tolerance, bilateral cooperation and human rights protection, as well as freedom of speech and of the media.
Global topics from the perspective of world experts
The students were addressed by the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Peter Burkhard, Professor Vladimir Bilandžić, Adviser Olivera Zurovac-Kuzman, and Political and Press Assistant Milica Knežević. They clarified the local and global problems that surround us to the students in an interesting way, and explained OSCE’s purpose and motives in some detail.
The students learned about the procedure and the number of participants required for solving critical bilateral issues. They include OSCE’s cooperation with the mission to Kosovo, a number of activities concerning the reorganisation of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as establishing and coordinating the rule of law in Serbia, according to European standards.
Savremena’s students were thrilled by the opportunity to meet the leading experts from OSCE in person and ask them everything they wanted to learn from them; they were especially honoured to meet the ambassador of Switzerland Peter Burkhard, who leads the OSCE mission to Serbia.
New experiences to aid knowledge acquisition
The students at Savremena International School learn about global topics and analyse them in the subject Global Perspectives, and the visit to OSCE served to expand their knowledge and make them better informed in this area.
With the valuable experience gained on this occasion, students can better understand the subject matter covered in Global Perspectives, and achieve excellent results in this subject.
