School stories

On Thursday, 26 January, Savremena’s students surprised the children from the two Drop-in centres in Belgrade and brought them gifts they had previously collected at their school during the humanitarian campaign A small gift for a great joy.

Personal hygiene products, warm winter clothes and footwear made the little ones happier during the cold winter days and Savremena’s students proud of their good deed.

Drop-in Centre – a safe haven for the children on the streets

Many children aged between 5 and 15 are exposed to numerous risks in their everyday life on the streets of Belgrade. The Centre for Youth Integration created the Drop-in centres in order to help them exercise their rights and improve the safety and overall quality of their life.

Drop-in centre is a permanent safe haven for these children, where they can have a bath and a meal, get warm and spend the night. Also, educational, creative, sporting and counselling activities are organised in order to make their stay at the centre pleasant and filled with love and care.

However, despite of these efforts, the children often lack the bare necessities. This is why Savremena, together with its students, decided to help the children at the Drop-in centres and provide them with small gifts for a great joy.

Humanitarianism as the essential life lesson

Warm-hearted Savremena’s students gave an example of how young people can improve the lives of their peers who need help. In addition to this, they have learnt that even with small contributions they can make a change and make the world around us more beautiful.

We thank them for the smiles they put on children’s faces at the Drop-in centres!
