School stories

International School recently welcomed prospective students and parents to its Open Day, offering an authentic insight into how a Cambridge-based international education works in practice. The event showcased the school’s approach to learning, where globally recognised academic standards are combined with creativity, critical thinking and hands-on experience, allowing students to actively engage with knowledge rather than simply observe it.

Welcome and Introduction to the School Concept

The Open Day began with a warm welcome from the School Director, who introduced visitors to the core concept of International School and its approach to education. Parents and students had the opportunity to learn more about the school’s curriculum, values and daily learning practices, as well as to ask questions and receive clear, open answers about academic pathways, student support and future opportunities.
This introductory session set the tone for the day, highlighting the school’s commitment to creating a supportive, dynamic and internationally minded learning environment.

Marketing Class: Creativity Meets Technology

During the marketing class, students explored the importance of branding and learned why a logo is one of the most powerful elements of any brand. They discussed how visual identity shapes perception and communication, before moving on to a creative task of designing their own logos.
What made the experience especially engaging was the use of innovative technology, which allowed students to see their logos come to life. This combination of creativity, strategy and digital tools demonstrated how theoretical knowledge is transformed into practical skills at International School.

Business Class: Understanding Investment and Financial Decision-Making

The business class introduced students to the fundamentals of saving and investing, helping them understand how financial markets function in real life. Through interactive examples, students observed how market values fluctuate and why predicting trends can be challenging.
This hands-on approach gave students a realistic perspective on financial decision-making and emphasized the importance of critical thinking, risk awareness and long-term planning — key skills for the modern world.

Mathematics Class: Breaking Stereotypes

The mathematics class aimed to challenge common misconceptions about the subject. Through an engaging and interactive approach, students discovered that mathematics does not have to be intimidating or difficult.
A highlight of the session was meeting the school’s favourite assistant, Pepper the robot, with whom students played a game of tic-tac-toe. This playful integration of technology helped create a relaxed atmosphere and showed how learning can be both effective and enjoyable.

Chemistry Class: Learning Through Experimentation

In the chemistry class, students took part in a series of exciting experiments that brought science to life. They created oobleck, explored how detergents work, and learned how artificial blood is made for use in special effects.
By actively participating in experiments, students were able to connect theory with practice, sparking curiosity and encouraging a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.

A Truly Engaging Learning Experience

The Open Day experience demonstrated how International School combines academic excellence with creativity, innovation and practical learning. By engaging students directly in lessons and encouraging exploration, the school provides an environment where curiosity is nurtured and learning becomes an active, meaningful process.
Open Day offered a clear picture of what makes International School truly different — a place where students are inspired to learn, create and grow with confidence.
