Last week, Savremena International School students had a unique global perspectives course at the Čuburski park whereby they surveyed passers-by on the topic of urbanisation.
Students conducted a survey in order to prepare for their “Effects and Consequences of Urbanisation in Belgrade” project which they will present on their own or with the help of video materials.
Surveying public opinion
In order to learn as much as possible on urbanisation in the most interesting way, in their global perspectives class, Savremena’s students were assigned to interview passers-by at the Čuburski park.
To make it all more efficient, our students were divided into 4 groups and they used their iPads to record the answers for the survey. The questions they asked are as follows:
- Were you born in the city or did you move here from the countryside?
- What prompted you to move?
- Have you found or achieved what you set out when you moved?
- Would you move from the city to the countryside? For what reason?
- Do you believe that a large number of people has moved from the countryside to the city?
- What effects does that have on the urban population?
Understanding the entire project development process
The survey they carried out will help our students complete their global perspectives project and reach the necessary conclusions based on the answers they collected.
In this way, our students learn how to conduct a research project and what this complex yet fun process entails, while at the same time coming to understand the current issues they discussed with their respondents.
