On Saturday 31 October, Savremena International School organised a Halloween party for its teachers and students.

Preparations for Halloween

Last week in Savremena was characterised by Halloween preparations. In the school’s dining room, our students carved pumpkins with their arts teacher and designed decoration for the party, while scary music that teachers used to contribute to the holiday came from each classroom.

Big weekend party

Slika_helloweenAll that served as an introduction to the main event that took place on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Enter club. One by one, to the club soon started arriving modern witches, skeletons, zombies, dead princesses, monsters, freaks, etc. In a nutshell, a lot of intimidating creatures in one place.

It was mostly difficult to recognise who is hidden behind the mask, which the indication that the mask was successful.

The atmosphere was up to the level of Halloween: there was dancing, intimidating, and photographing, and soon the time came for announcing the best costume. All students presented themselves on the dance floor before their arts, Serbian and business teachers. The task was difficult, there was a lot of effort and originality involved.

However, the first place went to Ana Petrović (a witch), Aljoša Dubroja (a skeleton), and Iva Sušić (a flight attendant hurt in a crash). The winners were awarded for their creativity with book vouchers and headphones. Afterwards, it was time for students to choose the best costume among their teachers.

The most thunderous applause went to Bojana Jurišić, biology teacher (dressed up as Cleopatra who rose from the dead), so there was no doubt or uncertainty when it came to choosing the winner.

Scary cakes

The sweetest came the last. The cake and all snacks were in the sign of Halloween. The fabulous cake with stacked pumpkins and a skull on a green surface were both the visual and gustatory highlight of the evening.

The modern approach to education

The entire event was a chance for students to perceive this holiday from a different perspective, relate one holiday to several different subjects and understand that knowledge acquiry is a vast field that can be covered in many different ways. Eventually, we reached our goal. Besides having learnt some things in the previous week, having fun, sparking up their creativity and imagination, they also saw their each other in a different atmosphere, outside classrooms.

We are looking forward to the next holiday!
